Vol 6: Solstice
'Solstice' features two of the directors who worked on Blake's 7. Pennant Roberts directed early episodes including Spacefall, Time Squad (which was the very first episode to be filmed), Mission to Destiny and Bounty. Mary Ridge directed for the first time in 'Terminal' but was to return for Rescue, Power (and I'm really interested in hearing her talk about this episode as I've often wondered how she felt about the script and what influence she had on the way it was presented). She was landed with Animals (I doubt anyone could have done much to rescue that episode except Jan Chapell) , Headhunter and directed the very last episode, Blake.

Paul Darrow and Gareth Thomas are there as usual to give their own perspective on events.

Vol 7: Seven
This brings you the latest developments on the Blake's 7 movie from Paul Darrow himself.

This was definitely the 'get Gareth Thomas' tape <grin>. He got to appear with:

Paul Darrow (Avon): the man who shot him

Jim Francis (special effects): the man who blew out Blake's guts

Chris Boucher (writer and script editor) who wrote the script that killed him off.

I'd been hoping that Chris Boucher would get to take part in one of these tapes - he wrote most of my favourite episodes and his influence as script editor was responsible for much of the best dialogue in the series. It'll also be interesting to hear what Jim has to say.

PS. And the baby Orac from Gambit is on the cover photo with the others. This is Blake's 7: it's compulsory to have a computer to bring your number upto Seven.

The Mark of Kane

Brain Croucher plays Travis and Gareth Thomas plays Blake.

The introduction on the sleeve is written by Chris Boucher (who was script editor and also wrote several of the best stories)

The tape consists of two stories, one on each side of the tape. The first story involves Travis before he reaches Freedom City and looks at some events relating to the Andromedans. It also involves a mutoid and a bounty hunter called Kane.

The second story involves Blake and takes place shortly after Jenna's death. There are some links to the first story - Kane and the mutoid reappear. We also get to meet Tando (one of Blake's fellow bounty hunters).

This tape is set 7 years after Gauda Prime and features Paul Darrow as Avon, Jackie Pearce as Servalan and cameos from Peter Tuddenham as Slave and Orac as well as Gareth Thomas as Blake.

The Cult Files

Theme songs of many Cult programs. The CDs (contains two CDs) entitled "The Cult Files" which contains many TV and movie song themes that relate to movies and television shows in the realm of cult classics.

It contains the theme songs for Blake's 7, Doctor Who, and The X-Files. The Blake's 7 theme song was not the original one but a reproduction by Mark Ayers of Dudley Simpson's extended version. I think it is a very nice reproduction, and that's pretty good praise considering I hate reproductions of anything. This may sound silly, but the bulk of the song is actually something you could dance to....it's got that heavy bass beat that I like. The other songs on it are very well done, as well. Since I bought mine here in the States, I don't know how available it might be overseas.
